In Berkeley, the East Bay Amateur Radio Club (EBARC), along with NALCO ARES/RACES, will be demonstrating Amateur Radio at César Chávez Park, from 11AM on Saturday, June 23rd until 11AM on Sunday, June 24th.

Using only emergency power supplies, ham operators throughout North America will construct emergency stations in parks, shopping malls, schools and backyards around the country as part of the American Radio Relay League's “Field Day, 2018.” Their slogan, "When all else fails, ham radio works” is more than just words to the hams as they prove they can send messages in many forms without the use of phone systems, internet or any other infrastructure that can be compromised in a crisis.

The EBARC and NALCO hams welcome the public to stop by and see ham radio’s newest capabilities and learn how to get their own FCC radio license before the next disaster strikes. They can even help you get on the air! Best time to visit: between Noon and 8 PM on Saturday, June 23rd.
ARRL Field Day Event starts Saturday at 11 AM - runs 24 hours until 11 AM Sunday. EBARC / NALCO site open to visitors during hours when César Chávez Park is open to the public.
