Die Antwoord: Who is Die Antwoord? (a) South African rap-rave group. (b) Viral sensation. (c) Concept artists. (d) Afrikaans for “The Answer”. (e) All of the above. The correct answer is (e) All of the above. The dirty-fancy style of Ninja and Yo-Landi Vi$$er is unlike anything in the music world today. With DJ Hi-Tek behind their fresh beats, the group burst on to the scene with the viral sensation, Enter the Ninja, in 2010. Die Antwoord combines the modern trashy style that is the Zef counter-culture movement with conceptual, provocative videos. Their music videos have gained them a cult following, featuring everything from rats and gold jewelry to their second hit, "Evil Boy", with Xhosa rapper Wanga protesting the ritual of male self-circumcision. Die Antwoord is currently touring the world and playing shows everywhere from Amsterdam to Los Angeles and promoting their third album, Ten$ion.

These Cape Town, South Africa natives had the idea to form the group in 2008 when ex-members of MaxNormal.TV and The Constructus Corporation, Anri Du Toit (Yo-Landi) and Watkin Tudor Jones (Ninja), decided to form their own rap-rave group with a fancy-dirty style that is Zef. Zef style can be described as modern, futuristic, trashy with discarded cultural elements. Their music and lyrics are stylized similarly. With Ninja’s furious and violent rapping, and Yo-Landi’s hi-pitched rapping and singing, and DJ Hi-Tek’s catchy beats, the group was unlike anyone else when they dropped their first single, “Enter the Ninja”, off their second album 5. With South African cinematographer Rob Malpage, Die Antwoord shot the video for “Enter the Ninja”, featuring Cape Town artist, Leon Botha, and the rest was history. Millions of views later, they released a second and even more raw video for “Evil Boy”, which features Xhosa rapper Evil Boy rapping about the rejection of the Xhosa tradition of self-circumcision.

Their provocative material and ridiculous stage presence quickly gained them a cult following, at home and abroad. Following the success of “Evil Boy”, Die Antwoord signed a deal with Interscope Records, and landed their first international concert appearance at Coachella Music Festival 2010 in front of a crowd of forty thousand. However, Interscope and Die Antwoord parted ways in 2010 over a dispute over their upcoming album and its lead single, “Fok Julle Naaiers”, and the group went on to create their own label, Zef Recordz. In 2012 they released their third album, Ten$Ion,, through their own label, which debuted at #20 on the Billboard Dance/Electro Albums chart.

Their freaky artistic videos continue to wow audiences and provoke mixed reviews. Their 2012 tour takes them across Europe, with a couple stops in California. Want to see this gold lacquered, tattooed, dirty sexy group in your hometown? Make sure to demand them and let them know where their realest fans are!

Gucci Mane: Southern rapper and collabo king, Gucci Mane, was known mostly for his street albums and his big-name collaborations before he hit it big as a solo star in 2007. Born in Birmingham, he was transplanted to Atlanta and was heavily influenced by the burgeoning southern rap scene of Georgia. He began rapping by 14-years old and released his street album debut, La Flare, in 2001. Only 1000 copies of the disc were made and Gucci Mane performed at local clubs and venues to promote the effort. It took the young MC a few years to hone his skills, but he managed to release his Tommy Boy debut, Trap House, in 2005. The album was a surprise hit for an independent release. It managed to chart at #10 on the Billboard Rap charts and the album featured the hit single "Icy" with Young Jeezy. Another street album, Hard to Kill, fared even better on the charts reaching #6 in 2006.

By 2007, Gucci Mane was ready to release his major label debut, Back to the Trap House. But it wasn't until 2009, that he scored his first #1 Rap album, The State vs. Radric Davis. The album featured the hit single "Spotlight", which featured Usher, and "Wasted" featuring Plies. The album was well-received and earned Gucci Mane the #6 spot on MTV's annual "Hottest MC in the Game" list in 2009. Gucci Mane tour dates and concert performances were scheduled periodically throughout the nation to promote the disc and capitalize on his rising cache. Gucci Mane also founded his own record label, 1017 Brick Squad Records, in 2009 and picked up rising MC, Waka Flocka Flame, the following year. He released his latest album, The Appeal: Georgia's Most Wanted, in 2010. The album featured the hit single "Gucci Time", and debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200, becoming his highest charting mainstream album to-date.

Gucci Mane scheduled the unofficially titled The Appeal Tour to promote the disc. The whirlwind concert tour has Gucci Mane traversing the country playing intimate venues to his loyal fans. In addition to his studio albums, he continues to release street albums; his most recent, The Return of Mr. Zone 6, recently hit #2 on the Billboard Rap charts in March, 2011. The prolific rapper continues to write rhymes and produce hits for his upcoming album to culminate the trilogy. The upcoming album, The State vs. Radric Davis: The Verdict, is due out once Gucci Mane wraps up his summer tour. The prolific rapper will be out on the road for selected dates throughout 2011.
