Portugal. The Man is also becoming well known for their diligent touring and recording schedule, having released 12 albums and EPs in the past six years. The band is also going on months worth of domestic and international tour dates in 2011, to the delight of fans who have come to expect this level of attention from these rising talents.

Portugal. The Man began as a side project for lead singer and guitarist John Gourley. The band began receiving widespread recognition after the release of their second album, Church Mouth, which afforded Portugal. The Man with their first headlining tour dates in the US and Europe. It was all down hill from there, as their next four albums would experience great reviews and a positive response from audiences. 2009's The Satanic Satanist received particular attention, as it was their first album to include pre-production and was praised for its sound.

Portugal. The Man's freshly released In the Mountain, In the Cloud marks the band's major label debut. Those critics that have heard the album in advance have already given it great reviews, and the fan hype has built to a fever pitch. Portugal. The Man has already been performing months worth of tour dates in 2011, and will continue to do so for months after the album's release. While there are too many concerts to name, the band will be traveling around the world, performing solo shows and at festivals until they end their 2011 tour dates on December 4.

Janelle Monae: Janelle Monae is gettin' fans hot and bothered with her syncretic blend of funk, rock, pop, and soul.

Janelle Monae hails from Kansas City and always desired to become a singer, dancer, and above all - a great performer. She soon moved to New York to study theatre at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, but quickly realized that her passion lay with music. She would find her place in Atlanta, and after a chance meeting with Big Boi of Outkast, Monae would gain exposure to the industry. She was featured in the Outkast conceived film, "Idlewild", and was soon introduced to Sean Combs of Bad Boy Records. Puffy knows talent when he sees it and he was immediately impressed with Monae, her vocal ability, and her essence. Unlike other artists on his label, Combs wanted to preserve her style and promote her organically; Combs stated that "she was already moving, she already had her records - she had a self-contained movement" by the time he signed her in 2006.

With a record deal under her belt, Monae set out to produce her music, her way. She envisioned a concept album centered around the story of an android named Cindi, who is a messiah of sorts, sent to free her world. What Monae created in the studio ended up being the first of a series of EP's entitled "Metropolis: Suite 1 (The Chase)". The EP was released and garnered the funkstress a Grammy nod for "Best Urban/Alternative Performance" for the single "Many Moons". While she didn't win, it was great exposure for her music. During 2009, Janelle Monae concert dates where scheduled at several festivals and individual shows. Janelle Monae tour dates were also booked in the opening slot for No Doubt on their summer tour. All the while, she was recording her debut LP, "The ArchAndroid".

The debut represents suite II and III of her android concept, and was released to critical appreciation in May, 2010. The album featured the lead-off single, "Tightrope", which featured a cameo by Big Boi, a dance heavy video, and most importantly Monae's soulful and funky vocals. For the album, Monae received ASCAP's Vanguard Award and she was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2011. Monae performed her single at the Grammy ceremony alongside B.o.B. and Bruno Mars, where she received a standing ovation. Janelle Monae tour dates were booked on Erykah Badu's "Out My Mind, Just in Time Tour" in 2010 and she booked performances on David Letterman, Ellen DeGeneres, and Carson Daly.

After extensive touring, Janelle released her third album, The Electric Lady. The most common word used by critics to describe the album was "epic", and showcased a futuristic dance sound that astounded most critics. The popularity of the album with fans prompted even more tour dates, as well as anticipation to see what Monae will innovate next.

The Internet: The Internet, hailing from Santa Barbara, California, is a post-punk/shoegaze band. It consists of Syd Bernardo, Marvin Dominguez, Oscar Murillo Jr., and Andrew Verdin.

The Internet’s debut EP released to iTunes and Amazon in May 2010. This, however, was merely a formality as the band made the album available for free via a fake-poll from its website; a move that has been heavily criticized as “career DOA” by nobody (yet).

DJ Snake: DJ Snake has made a name for himself both in front of and behind the mic. His first Grammy nomination came after he did producing work on the Lady Gaga album Born This Way. He has remixed songs like "New Slaves" by Kanye West, Major Lazer's "Bubble Butt", and "Dirty Vibe" by Skrillex. However, DJ Snake's biggest hits are those where he serves as lead artist, particularly "Turn Down For What" featuring Lil Jon, and "You Know You Like It" with AlunaGeorge.

The single was an immediate club hit and it debuted at #47 on the UK Singles charts in November, 2010.

He also came in second place to Jessie J at the 2010 BRIT Awards' for Critics Choice and was finally awarded single of the year in January, 2011 for "CMYK" at Giles Peterson's Worldwide Awards.

With an increasingly visible spot in the limelight and attention from music critics and fans, Blake quickly hit the studio to record his first LP. Blake's self-titled debut was released on both sides of the Atlantic on February 7, 2011 and reached the top ten on the UK albums charts. Monophonics: "One of the best live soul bands I have ever seen!" - Al Bell (Record producer, songwriter, executive, and co-owner of legendary Stax Records)

Raised amid the rich musical culture and history of the San Francisco Bay Area, Monophonics proudly carry the torch through the generations into today's musical landscape. Holding on to tradition, but by no means purists of any kind, they play their own brand of music known as "Psychedelic Soul."

The 2012 release of Monophonics last album In Your Brain saw the band pulling influences from such acts as early Funkadelic, Sly and The Family Stone and the The Temptation's Norman Whitfield produced records. With the new album, Sound of Sinning (out now on Transistor Sound Records), the band has grown in all areas of record making and felt a need to explore other important influences. While the group has come to cherish these inspirations, with Sound of Sinning they started venturing beyond, to the groups that were inspiring those soul acts to embrace the psychedelic sound of the 60's and 70's. Bands such as The Zombies, The Beatles, Beach Boys and Pink Floyd. Even with the experimentation of new musical territory, they display the sound that people know and love about Monophonics. Touching on Northern soul, doo-wop, rock and roll, Psych pop, and cinematic music, Monophonics show off their diversity while remaining true to their roots. Overall it's heartfelt music and old school vibes, without losing sight of the present. This is music steeped in that timeless feeling when people could write and produce songs that you could listen to over and over again. Sound of Sinning was produced by Kelly Finnigan & Ian McDonald and recorded on an old Tascam eight-track 1/4" tape machine at Transistor Sound Studios in San Rafael, CA.

Monophonics is Austin Bohlman (Drums), Myles O'Mahony (Bass/Background Vocals), Ian McDonald (Guitar/Background Vocals), Ryan Scott (Trumpet/Back- ground Vocals/Percussion) & Kelly Finnigan (Keys/Lead Vocals) along with a rotating 2nd horn usually filled by Nadav Nirenberg (Trombone) from Ikebe Shakedown and Breakdown Brass.

Chromeo: Canadian electrofunk band Chromeo is bringing a little bit of 80s electronic music back to the mainstream, both on tour dates and hit albums like Fancy Footwork. Chromeo's music has been featured in numerous video games, movies, and clubs and the duo has played concert dates at some of the most popular music festivals in the world. The successful release of their third album, Business Casual, last year means that Chromeo is at it again with months worth of tour dates in 2011.

Chromeo members P-Thugg (Patrick Gemayel) and Dave 1 (David Macklovitch) have been friends since high school and formed the group at the behest of DJ Tiga. While Chromeo's 2004, debut album She's in Control garnered them slight recognition and small tour dates, it was their second album, Fancy Footwork, that gained them widespread recognition. The success of the album took the duo on nearly two years worth of tour dates, including performances at Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Fujirock. Chromeo's latest album, Business Casual, has also received great reviews for singles like "Hot Mess" and "Don't Turn the Lights On."

As is becoming a trend with Chromeo, the duo has 2011 tour dates that last well into winter, even though the album was released nearly a year ago. After playing a number of music festivals in Europe, the UK, and North America, Chromeo will begin their Night Falls Tour on September 14. Most concert dates will feature Mayer Hawthorne and Breakbot, and Chromeo's 2011 tour dates will end on November 2. For all the latest info on Chromeo tour dates in 2011, be sure to check Eventful often.
